We've had a number of discussions lately about how mobile devices have changed business as a whole by altering consumer behavior and information acquisition. It seems like every day we read of a new study pointing to the shift of consumers turning to their phones to do more sophisticated tasks. The promise land of mobile marketing is mobile commerce, but building to that point will undoubtedly take time for most companies.

Despite all that is said about developing a legion of brand loyalists who care about your company and what you are doing, it's important to always remember that the purpose of marketing is not engagement for the sake of engagement.
