It seems like everywhere you turn these days it’s impossible to escape conversations on health care and the health care reform bill. It’s not only all over the news, last week the health care reform bill came in third on What The Trend’s Top 10 List of hot Twitter topics. When social media first started to gain popularity, most people probably never thought it would become a forum for discussion and a news source for such an important and controversial topic. But nevertheless, the health care industry is finding its place in the world of social media.
It’s no surprise that the health care reform bill has drummed up so much conversation on social media sites, especially given elected officials’ adoption of Twitter. However, it’s taken a little longer for the health care community to find their voice in social media. There are a myriad of reasons that health care providers and other companies in the health care industry should be engaging with people on social networking sites. The people that they’re aiming to reach are engaging with social media on a daily basis. If businesses in the health care industry are able to position themselves properly by building and becoming members of communities where they can offer their solutions to the people that need them most, they will be in prime position to refer people back to their websites.
We have a number of clients in the health care industry that are generating interest in their products and services using social media. We’re also helping them create websites that are not purely commercial, but offer useful information to website visitors. Our clients at Keller Labs have found a way to provide insight to people that suffer from headaches regarding possible causes and what can be done to avoid them. Check out their latest Tweets at http://twitter.com/NoHeadacheToday. You can also keep an eye out for websites that we’ve redesigned for Cooperative Home Care and Foot Healers which will go live later this month.
