Mass Mingling

Never heard of "Mass Mingling"?  That's okay; it's a new term developed to describe the phenomenon of how people are now living large parts of their lives online and connecting with people  from all over the world through these virtual networks.  In addition,  they are bringing online activities to the real world through the use of GPS and mobile online access.

 Consumer insights firm trendwatching.com has published the study, which highlights three drivers of the "Mass Mingling" rise: the first being that people love to connect and with the ease of  technology, we can now connect to people of similar minds all across the globe with a greater depth than ever before.  The second driver is many "real world" events are now occuring due to Mass Mingling: concerts, festivals, retail events, parties, etc.  Mobile online devices make it easy to stay online while moving in the real world at the same time.  And the third and final driver of the trend is the all-encompassing layer of information on top of everything that is turning "connecting" from a sit-down activity into an "on-the-go" activity with the rise of mobile Internet.

How could marketers capitalize on this new trend?  We advise trying to create products or services to facilitate connecting people, helping them travel to or participate in real-world meet-up events.  And if your brand or company hasn't yet developed an online presence (or you're online and haven't developed a real world presence), get on it!  With more and more people "Mass Mingling" the chance to gather more customers is enormous.
